The Society arranged two events to end 2018. Both very different and both extremely successful. The first event on the 4th December was the Christmas workshop. This was led by Margaret, our Chairperson. She demonstrated how to produce 2 different table decorations and a Christmas wreath. They all could be made using foliage that you could pick from your own garden.

The event was very well attended and the tea, coffee, hot mince pies and lovely ginger biscuits gave the whole event that Christmas feel. A special thanks for giving each table the Silver Service treatment. Each person was given the oasis ring and the foliage to complete the wreath. As you can see from the photographs everyone came away with an impressive decoration.

The second event was the coach trip to Wisley for the “Winter Glow Event”. Despite worries about the weather the rain held off until the very end. Our members had time to look around the garden and partake of refreshments before it went dark. Then the garden was transformed with lights. The Greenhouse was lit with red, blue and green lights that transformed the most ordinary plants in to something alien.

The paths outside were illuminated and particular parts of the garden were highlighted with arches and large lilies in the lake.

It was a very magical scene. To all those who took part the RCHS committee hopes that these two events provided a good start to your Christmas celebrations. Best wishes for the New Year.
