Last year the show had to contend with the “Beast from East” raising the question of whether there would be any daffodils for the Show. However our members rallied round and there was a tremendous response. The comments from our visitors were very positive and appreciative of the efforts made by the members of the RCHS.
This year the problem is different – warm unseasonal February weather followed by one storm after another but the question remains the same – will there be any daffodils left? Please hunt down any daffodils left in your gardens and enter them in to the Show. Then look for any plant that can have its moment of fame and enter. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, 20th March at 8pm. Entries can be done by email – go to events at the top of the web page or you can telephone 01895 675481.
The committee will be setting up the tables on Friday afternoon at 2pm, at the Barn in Ruislip, and any able bodied person who can help with this will be welcomed with open arms. The produce stall has proved to be very successful and if any member has any seeds, plants, jams, preserves and handicraft items that the Society can sell to raise funds that would be appreciated. The items can be brought on the Friday or Saturday morning.
As usual the Barn will be open for exhibitors from 9am on Saturday, 23rd March. Setting up of the exhibits must be finished by 11am when the judging will start. The Show is then open to the public from 1pm and cups and certificates will be awarded at 4pm. At the end of the show any help with putting down the tables wll be much appreciated.
Volunteers will be serving refreshments from 1pm and there will be an opportunities for buying raffle tickets . Above all the Show needs support with members exhibiting flowers and plants; demonstrating their domestic, handicraft and floral art skills; coming to the Barn to enjoy the start of what will be a very successful year.
A copy of the Show Schedule can be found on the web page under events or you can obtain a hard copy at the next talk which is on Tuesday, the 19th March.
